Financial Aid Programs
Tuition Reduction:
We provide an alternative education to any family whose heart’s desire is a Christian education and who is willing to make the necessary financial commitment to fund it. For some families, our tuition rate is difficult or impossible to meet. In such circumstances, families may be assisted through our tuition reduction program. Reduction percentages are based on family income, with a maximum reduction of 40%. This program offers a reduction of tuition and no funds are available t o make up the difference in the school’s budget.
The tuition reduction program is available two times per year with openings for the August through December period, and the January through June period. The process for applying for tuition reduction is as follows:
1. A notice will be mailed to all parents announcing the tuition reduction opening.
2. The parent must call and request a tuition reduction packet.
3. A tuition reduction application must be filled out and returned by the required due date. A copy of last year’s tax return is required along with the application
4. Families will be notified by mail of their eligibility for tuition reduction. The Tuition Committee determines the tuition charge from the income information provided.
Important dates for this process: 1st Opening 2nd Opening
Parents notified about opening May 1 Nov 1
Applications due back May 31 Dec 1
Eligibility notice mailed Jun 15 Dec 15
For Tuition fees beginning: Aug Jan
These due dates will be strictly enforced. Anyone not returning complete information by the due dates will be ineligible for tuition reduction until the next opening and full tuition will be expected.
Our payroll depends on tuitions. Therefore, each parent is expected to pay full tuition or the tuition amount designated by the Tuition Committee.
TUITION BENEVOLENCE FUND:
Families who qualify for the maximum tuition reduction of 40% may be eligible for further assistance from the Tuition Benevolence Fund. The Tuition Committee will periodically review tuition Benevolence Fund money grants. Tuition Benevolence grants are dependent on money available in the fund, and are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Recipients of this fund must meet the following criteria:
1. Meet income qualifications.
2. Make an effort to seek tuition sponsors and/or other sources of income.
3. Be involved in school functions and volunteer activities.
4. Make consistent payments of final determined tuition.
5. The child(ren) must exhibit an overall cooperative attitude.
Families who may not qualify for the maximum reduction, may apply to this Fund to receive a
COMMITMENT AWARD. Thirty percent (30%) of this fund is being set aside for these awards. Credit
toward tuition will be given to those returning students and their families who demonstrate a high degree of Commitment to NLCS and Christian education. Those interested in applying for this award should contact the Treasurer between May 1st and June 30th for the next school year. This is a one-time distribution, no funds will be distributed after August 1.
TEMPORARY HARDSHIP:
It is not our desire to see families leave due to temporary financial hardship situations, such as job loss. Parents are encouraged to call the Treasurer as soon as they are aware that they are, or will be, in a financial crisis. An application will be forwarded to the parent and the Tuition Committee will assess the situation. Any awards to help alleviate the tuition burden will be dependant on the parents’ willingness to be accountable and monies available in the Tuition Benevolence Fund.
NOTE: All financial aid programs are administered without regard to race, color, national origin, age, gender or religious affiliation.
